This is the skylight above one of the atriums in the Marshall Field’s building in downtown Chicago. This is a landmark building that Chicagoans fiercely claim as part of their cultural, commercial, and architectural heritage (even though Macy’s owns it now). Thanks to the official “landmark” status, the building has not only retained the existing look and feel, there have been great recent renovations, including the restoration and opening up of the grand vertical spaces, such as this one.
