Turkey is an absolutely amazing place to visit. It is an ancient land, part of the cradle of civilization, home to—or occupied by—many of the great ancient empires (from the Hittites and Phrygians, through the Greeks and Romans and Byzantines), and more recently shaped by the Ottomans and the new Republic. It is at the juncture of east and west, sitting on fertile earth with fantastic produce and gorgeous landscapes. It is a treasure trove of history and culture, seen in its cities and countryside, architecture and monuments, art and artifacts, food, and customs.

This is a collection of pictures from a trip to Turkey in May of 2013. The images are sepia toned to convey the dignity and timelessness of the place.
